Polish police arrest an individual who ordered manufacturing of pirate discs

Warsaw Police officers arrested a 35-year old individual who had placed an order for the production of 20,000 DVDs worth around 1.2 million PLN in one of legitimate plants in Poland and used false documentation. Then he ordered replication of 72,000 pirate CDs with music in another plant and the order surpassed the amount of 2 million PLN.

While placing the orders the man used false documents. He presented false statements on holding rights to reproduce given content.

During the investigation the police found out that the orders had been placed by fictitious companies. In one of the searched premises the police secured 13 stampers used in the mass production of discs. They also seized over 1,000 ready for sale discs, two PCs, a laptop and a tape with hologram stickers which had been placed on the packaged discs so that the buyer could not recognise a counterfeit copy.

The man has already been presented with charges. He faces a penalty of up to 5 years of imprisonment for acting to the detriment of producers and artists. ZPAV assisted in the investigation.
