International treaties and conventions
The International Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organisations, known as the "Rome Convention," provides international protection for record producers, performers and broadcasters against unauthorized use of their Works. On the basis of the treaty phonogram producers have a right to payment for the broadcast of their recordings, subject to certain exceptions.
WIPO Treaties: the WIPO Copyright Treaty ("WCT") which provides protection for authors and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty ("WPPT"), which refers to the rights of performers and phonogram producers. Both treaties address new copyright issues which emerged in relation with the digital technology.
The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRiPS). This treaty applies to the 146 WTO members.

Anti-Piracy Coalition
Founded in 1998 at the initiative of ZPAV, FOTA (Polish branch of MPA) and BSA (Business Software Alliance).
During 7 years since its founding the Anti-Piracy Coalition:
- increased the participation of representatives of the injured parties – owners of copyright and neighbouring rights in preparatory proceedings against intellectual property rights infringements;
- conducted a national media campaign “Kill piracy”;
- founded annual “Golden Badge” and “Golden Barrier” Awards for police and customs authorities most efficient in fighting piracy;
- organized series of training sessions throughout the country for prosecutors, judicial authorities, customs, police and border guard officers;
- organized the two-stage “Top 500” action during which letters were sent to 627 companies and 84 academic institutions explaining the threats arising from the unauthorised use of files with music, film and software in computer networks. A special software was provided, which allowed for the identification and deletion of such illegal files;
- has been cooperating with the police, border guard, customs authorities and prosecution in fighting intellectual property piracy;
